The Stellarium

【A Tale of a Steadfast Star】

"stella illa quae polaris dicitur"

The Stellarium

【 SYNOPSIS 】

Stars are entities in the sky that act as observers of Earth. Originally they were simply projected light from far off stars with a sense of conscious but overtime, with the observation of humans, they’ve started to emulate human culture and ideas — like the concept of gender, and physical form. Many of them follow the rotation of the earth and traverse the night sky, enjoying the many wondrous spectacles of the Earth. However, a few stars near the poles cannot travel and thus are restricted in what they can see. A lonely position. However, because of their stationary nature in the night sky, the North Star has become an important symbol to humankind. The star of navigation was then given a name, Polaris. As observers of humanity, many stars wish to be known by mankind and thus names are thought of as the utmost honor that one can receive.

【 EARTH'S NIGHT SKY 】

The Earth’s night sky is full of twinkling stars, projections of light from the true stars that are light years away. At one point, two of these pinpricks of light woke up with a consciousness, the brighter one first, and then the stationary one in the northern sky. Only surrounded by the vast inky emptiness, the two consciousnesses quickly clung together, only having each other amongst the infinite space surrounding them.Centuries and millennia passed and the two were joined by other stars waking up to awareness. As more of the stars began to gain cognizance, so too did humanity begin to flourish on Earth. The stars were fascinated by humans and began to observe them: emulating their culture, and seeking to be known by them. Their light-forms took on human like appearances; assimilated mannerisms and speech like the humans, and adopted the names that the humans would bestow them. Thus, the original two woken stars were named — Polaris and Sirius.

【 TERMINOLOGY 】

【 Named Star 】 A star recognized by human society and given a name. Considered the highest honor among the Stellarium. Some stars even have multiple names, and the most decorated of them all is the brightest star of the night sky, Sirius.【 Unnamed Star 】 These stars have not been given a name; in the modern era this is very rare as most stars are at least designated with a scientific name, but in the past it was commonplace to not have a name.【 Inert Star 】 These stars have either not gained conscienceness yet or they've gone back to sleep and not woken for aeons.【 Collapsed Star 】 Although the Stellarium stars are just light echos of the real star bodies light-years away, when their true body collapses, they too will eventual feel the effects. Collapsed stars will slowly lose their sense of self and fall into insanity till they are put into an endless slumber.【 Constellation 】 A group of stars that are close in proximity, often likened to a human family. Humans would recognize their patterns and assign them names and myths which the Stellarium stars delight in. Some stars without names are referred to by their Constellation instead.
